Here's the Deal

Let me paint a picture for you.

You're walking down the street, iPod in tow. Instead of choosing your go-to playlist, you've decided that you're going to be adventurous today and use the shuffle. If you're like me, your iPod has been used enough that even when you press shuffle it goes to a song that you listen to on a regular basis. After a few familiar songs play however, your palms start getting sweaty and you think about jumping ship on this whole shuffle thing. I mean, a really bad song that you never listen to but is somehow still on your iPod could come up and ruin the whole vibe.

This blog is all about what can happen if you decide to keep calm and carry on with your decision to shuffle.

My iTunes, as it now stands, has 4,316 songs on it. If I listened to these songs continuously, it would take 10.9 days (why iTunes chooses to include this statistic, I have no idea). I found myself in the aforementioned situation recently and thought, "I haven't listened to half of the music on here...I should do that." But I needed more motivation to undertake this endeavor, because I'm going to have to listen to some pretty bad/embarrassing music to accomplish my goal...so that's where the blog comes in.

I won't just be posting about what I listened to during the day, because that would be like watching paint dry. Or like reading an economics book (which, coincidentally, is what I should be doing). I'll be reviewing each album or song in the case that I don't have the full album. My qualifications for reviewing music? I love it. I have a passion for it. And my friends all say I make the best mix CDs. If that doesn't make me qualified, then I don't know what would.

My goal is to listen to and review at least 1 album a week and seeing that I'm a college student who's graduating in May and looking for jobs, this is a fairly lofty goal. I'll try my best, and if I have time I'll do more than one a week. I'll be collecting more albums and songs along the way, so expect new features/topics to pop up every once in a while.

You've got the basics now, so until my next post...don't get lost in the shuffle! (Get it?! It's the title...ok...I'll never do that again.)
